Actress Gautami Kapoor, known for her grounded nature and progressive parenting, recently opened up about a bold and unconventional moment she shared with her daughter, Siya, on her 16th birthday. Speaking candidly, Gautami recalled wanting to gift her daughter something meaningful—something most mothers wouldn’t even dare to consider.
“When my daughter turned 16, I kept thinking, what should I gift her?” she shared. “I wondered—should I give her a s*x toy, should I gift her a vibrator or something that encourages her to explore herself? When I told Siya, she was shocked and said, ‘Mom, have you lost it? Are you crazy?’ But I told her to think about it. How many mothers would even have this conversation?”
Gautami explained that her intention was rooted in openness and education—wanting her daughter to be aware of her body and personal experiences in a safe, stigma-free way. “My mom never had these talks with me, and I didn’t want to repeat that. A lot of women go through life without experiencing certain pleasures or understanding themselves. Why should my daughter be in that situation?”
Now 19, Siya respects her mother’s perspective and acknowledges the thought behind it. “She appreciates that I even considered it. And that’s amazing,” Gautami said. “Of course, I know I might get trolled for this—but that’s okay. It was said with honesty and love.”
On the professional front, Gautami Kapoor has had a stellar television career with standout roles in shows like Ghar Ek Mandir, Kehta Hai Dil, and Parvarrish. She’s also appeared in Bollywood films such as Fanaa and Student of the Year. Married to actor Ram Kapoor, the couple has two children and is admired for their strong bond and modern parenting approach. Gautami continues to inspire by blending fearless honesty with maternal warmth, both on and off screen.
