YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav recently opened up about a deeply emotional connection to the tragic Pahalgam terror attack that took the lives of 27 individuals, including Navy officer Vinay Narwal. In a recent vlog, Elvish shared that the martyred officer’s wife, Himanshi, was once a close college friend.

Elvish, who graduated from Hansraj College in 2018, was watching coverage of the attack when he came across a video of Himanshi, the grieving widow. Initially unable to recognise her, he was stunned when he realised she was his former college mate.

“I hadn’t spoken to her since college, but we were very close back then,” he said. “We used to travel to the metro station together, hang out a lot — she was a good friend. I still have her number, but I didn’t call. It didn’t feel like the right time. You don’t expect someone to pick up the phone and talk in that situation.”

Instead of calling her directly, Elvish contacted a mutual friend. That friend tried to reach Himanshi repeatedly, finally getting through on the 31st attempt. Elvish shared that he asked the friend whether the reports circulating on television — including claims that terrorists asked victims about their religion before killing them — were true. “The friend confirmed it. Everything being shown on TV is accurate,” Elvish said.

This revelation added a painful personal layer to an already devastating national tragedy. Elvish’s account serves as a reminder that behind every viral headline lies a web of real human connections and heartbreak. As tributes pour in for the martyred officer and the other victims, his words resonate with the grief and shock being felt across the country.
