Earth Day 2021: We all know that Aprill 22 is celebrated as the Earth Day across the globe. Internationally, people as well as the major stakeholders take part in the various civic activities and work on raising awareness about several critical issues that our Earth faces.

Global warming, deforestation, and pollution are only a few of the problems which form part of any agenda around the subject of environment. These issues are routinely discussed as they pose a major threat to the nature. More than 1 billion individuals spread across 192 nations partake in Earth Day activities every year. This makes the day the biggest on the planet.

The theme for Earth Day 2021 is “Restore Our Earth” and its primary focus is on the various emerging green technologies, natural processes, and innovative ideas which can help restore the world’s ecosystems. No wonder, the theme soundly also rejects the belief that only adaptation and mitigation are the ways in which we can address climate change and global warming.

In fact, the organization Earthday.org urged everybody to participate in the movement on Earth Day 2021. They also added that the focus must be on an international push for climate literacy and creating awareness, so that leaders of tomorrow are capable of preparing the solutions today.

This year Earth Day 2021, activities were divided over 3 days, that is, beginning on 20 April. On 21 April, Education International, with its 32 million educators, led the “Teach for the Planet: Global Education Summit”. This virtual summit, in its various languages, focussed on the significance of the role of educators in confronting climate change. It also shed light on why the world needs transformative climate education now more than ever on Earth Day 2021.

A day later, along with USA President Joe Biden’s global climate summit, earthday.org organized its second Earth Day Live digital event. The global show began at noon Eastern Time. On that day, workshops, panel discussion, and special performances were held that focussed on the theme of “Restore Our Earth”, the theme that was decided for this year.

“We cover emerging green technologies, natural processes, and innovative thinking which can restore the world’s ecosystems,” a note about the event said. The topics formed the centre of discussions and included climate restoration technologies, climate and environmental literacy, reforestation efforts, equity, regenerative agriculture, and environmental justice, along with citizen science as well as clean-ups for Earth Day 2021.
