Several plantation drives, commemorating the World Environment Day 2023, have been organized in the national capital region of Delhi by the volunteers and members of Greenubuntu. The latest was held at 8 am in the morning at C1 Park, Safdarjung Development Area. The first in the latest series of initiatives was carried out in Nainital, where a lake cleanup drive was organized by Greenubuntu.
This organization has been working for the cause of sustainability and environment since the past seven years. Chief guests, included highly-placed officials of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainability. They graced the occasion by planting Ashok trees in the vicinity.
The drive happened due to the initiative of Greenubuntu co-founder and associate editor Ushi Fatma. The plantation drive was sponsored by various organizations across the national capital region of Delhi.
Hundreds of volunteers and interested citizens from across Delhi as well as the country were present on the occasion and actively participated in it. The events were covered by several media and publication houses in the city.
World Environment Day is celebrated across the world on 5 June and is considered as one of the biggest and the largest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations and held every year since 1973, the event has become the largest global platform for environment outreach. Millions of people participate to protect the planet.
