Actor Babil Khan, son of the late legendary actor Irrfan Khan, recently found himself at the center of controversy after an emotional video he shared on social media went viral. In the now-deactivated post, Babil opened up about his struggles in the entertainment industry, calling Bollywood “the most fakest, fakest, fakest industry” he’s ever been a part of.
The video, posted on May 4, showcased a visibly heartbroken Babil speaking candidly about his feelings. “Bollywood is the most fakest, fakest, fakest industry that I’ve ever, ever been a part of,” he said. “But there are a few people that want Bollywood to be better. I got to show you so much more, so much more, so much more. I have so much more to give you.”
His vulnerable outburst triggered a flurry of mixed reactions online. While many sympathized with his emotional state, others criticized him for generalizing and undermining an industry that has embraced him. The backlash eventually led Babil to deactivate his Instagram account, causing further concern among his followers and industry peers.
Amid the uproar, Babil’s team issued a clarification, stating that his comments were “taken out of context.” They explained that the actor’s intent was not to discredit the entire film industry but to express his emotional turmoil and the difficulty of navigating fame while staying authentic. His family also echoed the sentiment, urging people to be more compassionate and understanding.
Babil, who has been praised for his performances in Qala and The Railway Men, has often spoken about his desire to bring emotional depth and honesty to cinema—much like his father. This recent episode has only highlighted the emotional toll that young actors often endure while trying to find their footing in an ever-demanding industry.
