From Sonu Kakkar to Amaal Malik; a look at dysfunctional Bollywood families.
In the glittery world of Bollywood, fame often comes at the cost of fractured relationships. While the industry celebrates its power families, several stars have chosen to walk away from their kin, revealing stories of emotional strain, estrangement, and personal growth.
Singer Sonu Kakkar recently shocked fans by publicly announcing that she is no longer associated with her siblings, Neha and Tony Kakkar. While the reasons remain undisclosed, her statement hinted at long-standing differences that led to the rift.
Composer and singer Amaal Mallik has also been candid about his emotional battles. He opened up about distancing himself from his family, including his brother Armaan Malik. In a vulnerable note, he hinted that his parents, Daboo and Jyoti Malik, were responsible for driving a wedge between the siblings. He also shared his struggles with depression during this painful phase.
Dysfunction isn’t new in Bollywood. The Deol family, often viewed as tight-knit, saw internal differences come to light during various phases of their careers. At Sunny Deol’s son Karan and Drisha’s wedding photos while the Deol family were enjoying the celebrations, the absence of and her daughters, and Ahana Deol, from the wedding sparked rumors of a family rift.
Aamir Khan and his brother Faisal Khan have had a notably turbulent history. Faisal even accused Aamir of forcibly medicating him at one point, though the matter eventually faded from the spotlight.
Prateik Babbar has also publicly acknowledged a distant bond with his half-siblings, including Aarya Babbar, stemming from a complicated family dynamic after the passing of their mother, Smita Patil. Prateik also didn’t invite his brother or father to his wedding.
Actress Ameesha Patel was estranged from her parents for years, following a fallout over financial matters. She later reconciled, but the wounds were long-lasting.
Comedian Krushna Abhishek and his maternal uncle Govinda have endured a very public and often bitter feud. However, on the Great Indian Kapil Show, Krushna and Govinda buried the hatchet by making an appearance together and also let everyone know that things are fine between them.
In an industry known for close family ties, these stories reveal the hidden costs of fame and fractured trust behind closed doors.
