Shefali Jariwala’s untimely passing on June 27, 2025, at age 42, sent shockwaves through Bollywood and beyond. Affectionately known as the “Kaanta Laga Girl,” she rose to fame in 2002 with the sensational remix of “Kaanta Laga”, which turned her into an overnight icon.
Sudden Demise and Last Moments
On June 27, Shefali observed a fast for Satyanarayan puja and later consumed stale food, followed by a Vitamin C IV drip and anti-ageing injections—glutathione included—without recent medical supervision. Late that night, she collapsed at home; her husband Parag rushed her to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Initial findings indicate cardiac arrest triggered by a sudden drop in blood pressure, likely worsened by fasting, medication, and possibly the IV drip. Preliminary autopsy ruled out foul play; tissue and chemical analyses are ongoing to determine the exact cause.
Her career
Her allure and screen presence paved the way for roles in films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and the Kannada hit Hudugaru (2011), alongside appearances in reality shows such as Nach Baliye 5 & 7 and as a wildcard contestant on Bigg Boss 13.
A proud holder of a degree in Computer Applications, Shefali bravely faced personal challenges from early on—managing epilepsy from her teens with determination and healthy living. In her personal life, she married musician Harmeet Singh in 2004; the couple divorced in 2009 amid allegations. In 2014, she found love again, tying the knot with actor Parag Tyagi.
Her career, though spanning over two decades, consistently showcased resilience and versatility. From Kaanta Laga to web series like Baby Come Naa and a recurring role in Shaitani Rasmein, she adapted and evolved with the changing entertainment scene.
A Life and Legacy
Shefali’s sudden departure leaves behind unfulfilled dreams—she and Parag had hoped to start a family and had even considered adoption. Colleagues and fans mourn her vibrant spirit and the grace she brought to every role. Her journey from tech graduate to dancing muse reminds us of her tenacity, while her tragic end sparks an urgent conversation on the safety of unsupervised wellness routines and mental well-being.
May Shefali Jariwala rest in peace. Her legacy lives on in every beat of “Kaanta Laga” and in the hearts of millions who watched and adored her.
